Underneath Lament
What is hiding under your sadness, your worry, your frustration, your anger? These are strong emotions and it would be hard to believe that whatever the circumstance that got you to this point there would reside an underlying remnant of strength. Not a strength devised of one's self. A humble peace could be possible.
Paul talks to the Corinthians and quotes Psalms 116:10. "I believed in God, so I spoke." Paul knew in those moments of his deepest distress God was his center. He believed and spoke of it. He proclaimed it. The Psalmist had the same faith. In his deepest distress God was there.
This Psalm was sung the night that Jesus was betrayed and arrested. He was at his deepest despair and sung a song to His father in heaven. A proclamation to God above the center of His peace in the midst of a deep storm.
