“He renews my strength. He guides me along right paths, bringing honor to his name.”
Psalms 23:3 NLT
During my trip to Israel we stopped at En Gedi. From the lookout I gazed across the wide expanse. It was majestic and panoramic although it was nothing but dirt and rock with a big gulch that led it way up to the rock faced mountain edge. A trail that made the people look like ants made its way to a waterfall and cave in the cleft of the vertical mountain face.
This is the place David took refuge when hiding from King Saul. It was in this cave that it is believed David wrote this Psalm.
Sometimes we have an enemy or trial we face but as we seek the Lords guidance He leads us to a quiet place tranquil and peaceful at just the right time. It is a time where we are protected. It is a time of peace. It is a time of refuge. What we thought was a rocky and crooked path full of obstacles becomes a straight path because all along it was by His leading.
So now we take a deep breath and sit by the still, clear green water.
