Sound of Paradise
12x36 Oil on canvas.
Many years before we met, Heather fell in love with Charleston, SC for it's unmatched architectural buildings and churches turned into swanky restaurants/upscale shops. After work week, she and her friends would gather at one of the various island beaches before dancing the night away at one of the local pubs downtown. Her love for the city was infectious. And it didn't take long for me to fall in love with both her and her favorite city.
In 1998 we enjoyed a week in this beautiful city for our honeymoon. I remember when we walked across what was then the Cooper River Bridge she would look up at the Carolina sky as if talking directly to God and say, "One day, Lord, I sure would love to have a view as beautiful as this one." At the time we lived in Charlotte, NC. Every time we'd visit Charleston, I heard her say the same prayer when we crossed the bridge. 17 years later God answered that small prayer and today we have an extraordinary bridge view from our condo called The Emerald Isle bridge. While Chucktown may have been her first love, Emerald Isle is her forever love! I painted what I think her heart feels everytime she's home and gets to see this beautiful gift God has given to us.
