📖 1 Timothy 1:12-14
How would you describe abundance? There was a time in my life when my own definition of abundance was measured by what I had gained monetarily. I obsessed over the balance in our bank account - if it was healthy, I was happy. If low, me too. The nicer car in our driveway, name brand clothes in our closet, and the best kitchen gadgets in my cabinets (I love to cook!) told me that I was living in abundance and life was abundantly good.
But that was a lie!
For years my happiness ebbed and flowed as fast as our bank account. But God loved me so much that He taught me a very important life lesson — He took it all away! Well most of it anyway. For years we lived with only the very items we needed to survive. Basic necessities, food, and clothes. It was in this season His grace and mercy taught my unbelief the truth. Christ alone is more than abundant! Slowly the desire for things was stripped away by the ONE who’s stripes saved my soul. Today, we prayerfully live our daily lives in and for Christ. In return His faithfulness has strengthened us to no longer ebb and flow in our joy. Instead, we live a life where true abundance flows from the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus alone - the Giver of all good gifts!
