Be Thou My Vision
This special piece was a gift from a daughter to her mother. With great joy she received, Be Thou My Vision, today.
In studying the hymn "Be Thou My Vision," I came across an article that shared a few verses often excluded. It pointed out that the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th verses of the hymn match with the wisdom, light, and riches mentioned in Jeremiah 9: 23-24. I thought that this was a plausible theory about the source of "Be Thou My Vision." Jeremiah 9:23-24
Thus says the Lord, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the Lord.
Set your mind on the things above, not on the things that are on earth.
