"Becoming" Philippians 1:6 "Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus." This is one of my favorite verses. I cling to it when faced with adversity. It speaks to me; it gives me hope on my darkest days. It reminds me of our hope in a Heavenly kingdom where we finally can say goodbye to the daily struggles in this world and see Jesus for the first time complete and whole. I often use symbolism to share my stories in each piece I paint. In this piece, I chose to make the tentacles incomplete. I added drip marks, texture and other imperfections to help communicate the point of the meaning of “Becoming.” I also have a confused light source and made the subject matter floating as if to rest in the presence of the moment to help the viewer contemplate the painting further.
